The Project
This project was developed by the staff of Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES Professional Development team as part of the Model Schools (instructional technology) service. The goals of this project were:
- Provide ongoing professional development for teachers in order to assist them in leading students to use technology.
- Assist teachers and students in developing a knowledge of digital video equipment and digital video editing.
- Provide a forum for students and teachers to showcase thier efforts as part of the learning process.
The professional development plan included several components:
- Day 1: Face-to-face trainings with all teachers and staff developers with regard to the project goals, use of camera equipment, and use of computer equipment.
- Day 2: Follow up training to gain further competence in technology. Troubleshoot logistical challenges with staff developers and teacher colleagues.
- Day 3: School Visits--Depending on the need of individual teachers and classes, staff developers visited schools and provided professional development by modeling the use of the technology with students and teachers. Each school had a staff developer assigned to it, and appointments were made depending on need.
- Day 4: Online Showcase.
